Colored Toric Contact Lenses
By Christohper ChaseFor years, people with astigmatism have been told that they cannot wear contact lenses. This is no longer the case; those with even severe astigmatism can wear contacts both safely and effectively.
The latest development however is REALLY exciting. There are now colored toric contact lenses that correct astigmatism, so that those with astigmatic eyes can, not only enjoy wearing contact lenses but they can also enjoy the fun of colored toric lenses, brilliant!
Color Toric Contacts – The Basics
Color toric contacts work in the same way as normal toric contacts. One of the main problems that those with astigmatism faced with contact lenses was that they rotated, meaning that vision was adversely affected. Colored toric contact lenses are designed so that they do not rotate and only move up and down slightly.
Whilst toric contact lenses only moving up and down is great for those with astigmatism, vision can still be adversely affected when it comes to colored toric contact lenses. Having contact lenses that are colored and also correct astigmatism can mean that vision is not perfect, due to the slight movement from the contact lens.
Contact Lenses, Colored & Toric?
Modern technology allows contact lenses to be both toric and colored, although generally they are best reserved for those with mild astigmatism only. Resist the temptation to purchase a cheaper non toric alternative as this will not provide adequate vision.
Colored Toric Lenses – Hints and Tips
When choosing colored toric lenses it is vital that you obtain an up to date prescription and that your lenses are checked to ensure that they fit correctly. This is particularly important for colored toric lenses, as any movement in the lens can have a detrimental effect on vision.
Colored toric lenses are now a viable option, so that those who have astigmatism can also enjoy the fun of colored toric contact lenses. Having said this, more caution is needed to ensure that the colored toric lenses fit correctly and are having the required corrective effect.
Bear in mind that colored toric contact lenses are likely to be more expensive than
non toric, but it is a small price to pay for the fun that you will have!
