Special effects colored contacts are becoming a major part of many contact lens providers' business. People are recognizing that purchasing special effect colored contacts is both easy and cheap, and therefore an option available to all not just the rich and famous!

Special effect colored contacts come in a wide range of styles and the choice is ever- increasing. Most novelty contact lens colors focus on dramatic and often scary changes such as bloodshot or zombie eyes.

Not surprisingly, the primary uses of special effect colored contacts are still for dramatic performances such as TV and film or as accessories for fancy dress, particularly around Halloween time.

Novelty Contact Lens Color Ideas

Novelty contact lens color options vary dramatically. Some special effects colored contacts rely entirely on changing the color, others more on the actual effect. Special effect colored contacts normally come in colors such as black, red or white that offer a dramatic change, or more subtle colors such as lilac or light orange.

Novelty contact lens colors are normally colors that are not likely to be mistaken as natural, such as bright blue or green.

Sclera Color Contacts

Sclera color contacts are an effective way of dramatically changing the look of your eyes and your overall appearance. The sclera is commonly referred to as the white of the eye and is not generally affected by color contacts. Some special effect colored contacts do, however, also alter the color of the sclera for maximum impact.

A prime example of the sclera color contacts is the black out contact lens that literally blacks out the entire eye, making the socket appear empty.

Black color contact lenses are a popular category all on their own. Whilst we have already discussed the total blackout sclera color contacts, there are many other equally effective permutations of black color contacts.

For example there are hypnotic black color contact lenses that are white in background yet with a black spiral running throughout. Similarly, you may find black color contact lenses that are in zebra print or cats' eyes. Black color contact can be an extremely effective way of accessorizing an otherwise plain outfit or look.
